Reading through their methodology, they try to do a cost/benefit analysis of regulation, which they admit is exceedingly challenging to do accurately (in no small part because they aren't designed to be profitable, they're supposed to protect people's health and rights).
So, not only are you putting forward a libertarian think tank's study, you're putting forth one that would require a huge amount of subjective assumptions to come up with any estimate at all. On top of that, the study's conclusion doesn't even make a germane point, since if we eliminated all the regulation it would boost Medicare's numbers too by cutting all that rights-protecting red tape.
This doesn't back up the statement that Medicare's overhead costs are 1/3, or 33%, it's making a different argument altogether.

Or maybe he's just an asshole? Hmmm it's a *mystery.
On a side note, I don't think that several people all recognizing the same thing (that he's an asshole) qualifies as "group think".
I just find it hard to believe that and asshole of his extent can exist, especially in a pseudo-intellectual community. I find it easier to believe that he is an illusion and a tool used to create animosity.
But maybe he is just an asshole.
The group-think mentality is mostly applicable to the anti-conservative sentiment of the site, which users such as BillO incite with weak, emotionally fueled arguments

When an object is in orbit, it is already in free-fall, but the centripetal force going up is equaled by the force of gravity going down. If you chuck something down, it will continue that way until it hits the ground.

some day I'd like to be hurtling through the vacuum of space and just full-on chuck something down at Earth.
I have a question for the physicists - what would happen to an object thrown perpendicular to your orbit down toward earth? Disregard atmospheric drag. After one orbit, would that object come back up towards you as fast as you chucked it?
I edited the tags to include your search terms. Hopefully that should prevent it from not showing again in searches or on the dupe radar.
Happy sifting,

10 months ago I saw my video disappear without a trace.
When i search elephant and poop(and synonyms), and nothing, including the original, showed up, I assumed that something must have gone awry with the one video. I understand now
In reply to this comment by maatc:
rgroom1, it is odd but you submitted the exact same clip (even with the same title) about 10 months ago here: http://www.videosift.com/video/2-Elephants-1-Cup , and that one was also discarded as a dupe.
so sorry, but: *dupeof=http://www.videosift.com/video/Snack-Time-in-the-Elephant-Pen
Pardon my typo, yea its a IT joke idea.
White hat is a righteous do gooder, black hat is a malicious villain, and grey hats are for hire.
In reply to this comment by rgroom1:
what is the white hat?
is this some sort of KKK joke?
In reply to this comment by NordlichReiter:
I am very happy with this.
very good use of the white hat here.

The constitution and the bill of rights are very adamant about defending individual rights, individual freedoms, individual choices, so long as they do not interfere with an individuals "Life, Liberty, and Happiness (or property, if you like Locke)" which are defined as inalienable.
Property - everyone is entitled to own all they create or gain through gift or trade so long as it doesn't conflict with the first two rights
Socialism - a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating state or collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and the creation of an egalitarian society.
Now, defenses aside, the constitution, the guiding force of the United States, seems very very explicitly against many of the policies that are reveled here on the sift.
If you feel that it is outdated, then maybe you should begin a campaign to disband the constitution. But I, and many many others will not allow it.

late in the debate
as the sift ages, it gets less page views. also, the info you posted would have been useful earlier, but no one will see it now.

In reply to this comment by rgroom1:
Should we just run all the military-esque videos past you? you know too much to be coming in this late in the game dammit.
